L-Phe also known as: L-Phenylalanine
L-Phe is mood elevating and can be considered as euphoric - it is commonly called a natural upper. Users report that it can reduce hunger, increase sexual interest, improve memory and mental alertness, and alleviate depression. It is non-addictive so there are no problems about its continued use.
Found in many food stuffs, including diet cola (it is released from the sweetener aspartamine), it is an essential amino acid that must be present in the diet. An average person consumes approximately 20g a day from natural protein sources.
Phenylalanine is a neurotransmitter that is metabolised into various endogenous amines that act as excitatory transmitters. Noradrenaline, dopamine and epinephrine (ephedrine) promote alertness and vitality. Noradrenaline and dopamine are the compounds that are structurally similar to the drugs such as speed, meth, ecstasy, MDA, Mescaline and PCP which they mimic for their activity.
Additionally L-Phe is metabolised to Tyrosine, an amino acid that is the most direct precursor to norepinephrine, dopamine and epinephrine (ephedrine). Tyrosine is the nutrient that is most used in recovery and has been shown to keep neuronal damage to a minimum during stress. As a supplement is has similar effects to that of L-Phe. It is not an essential amino acid as it can be metabolised from L-Phe - although it is important that there is a vitamin C supply so that it can be properly metabolised.
Herbal Highs supplements that incorporate L-Phe are balanced with the other important nutrients required for its proper utilisation, making sure the body doesn't have to work too hard or harm itself.
